    Warhorse Ride 2014

Hello October how did you end so quickly?

In August we were contacted and asked to supply some electric fencing to keep 28 horses enclosed in the evenings on The Warhorse Ride 2014. We did so with pleasure and asked in return to see some pictures of this great ride. The horses that were to be enclosed were militry horses who were taking part in The Warhorse Ride in commemoration of all the men and horses who were invloved in the early part of the Great War.

Here is a bit fo information on the ride:

  5. End of Summer fence health check

End of Summer fence health check

Well your fields have been in full use now for a few months and I am sure the animals have tested the fencing a few times, tried to munch it and also there has been vegetation growth.

Here are some things to check and look out for.

    1. Check your power source? If mains - are all the connections still nice and tight no fraying? If battery - battery still charging? Are the energiser battery connections in place? If you are using a solar panel with a battery - is the solar panel in the correct position

    Electric Fencing in New Zealand

A few weeks ago I was in London spying out electric fencing whilst trying to find green space in such a large sprawling matropolis!

This week I have some great electric fencing photos from New Zealand... alas I haven't just been on a trip of a life time to New Zealand...!   However Billy Boy our technical guru was in New Zealand a few months ago and he took some pictures of electric fencing for us.  The Kiwi's seem to be the kings of electric fencing - its everywhere!

Keeping pigs in a moveable enclosure

    Pigs.

I think people think pigs are very dirty stinky animals but that is not true (although at the moment whilst they are spreading on the fields I am not loving pigs...) Yes pigs like to wallow in the mud (much like my dog......)

While it is well accepted knowledge that pigs wallow in mud in order to regulate body temperature and keep cool, but did you know it is also for their wellbeing. So a happy pig has food and water, shelter with bedding, a wallowing hole, a place to forage and interaction

    Electric Fencing In London!!

Walking around London today trying to find some green space... as you do... and can you believe it I spied some electric fencing!

Leslie said - "only you could find cows and electric fencing in London....."  Actually the cows had gone but the electric fencing was still there!  Nice little system using ring insulators and rope to stop the cows from leaning over the stock fence.
